The Andean region presents a lot of rains, superior to 1000 millimeters a year, caused by the humid winds coming from the Pacific Ocean. Winters are long and cold, with abundant snowy. The medium annual temperatures are in general, inferior to 10º C. The rest of the province has scarce precipitations, inferior to 200 millimeters a year. The west and southwest winds that are cold and dry, blow constantly, reaching sometimes more than 100 Km per hour. The medium annual temperature oscillates between 10º and 12º C; in coastal areas there are higher ones due to the sea influence. Winters are hard and summers are short and warm.
The whole Patagonian extra-Andean region presents big thermal amplitude. The depressed areas, like Sarmiento city, in summer are overheated with 20ºC, while in winter they have 3ºC. The region has a defined continual regime that goes up to the vicinities of the Atlantic Ocean.
