This youth and strong city is the main urban center of Mendoza's south and head of one of the biggest oasis of Whose.
It is characterized by their modern, extended construction and, in general, it lowers. It has wide, tree-lined streets and watered by canals that contribute to create, together with their parks, the characteristic image and the micro-climate of a city oasis.
The urban area is crossed in sense north-south for the Av. Hipólito Yrigoyen (RN143) that divides two sectors of different origin: that of the east, around the square San Martin, is the most traditional, where they are the main institutions, equipment and trade.
The western one is residential and newer, especially in the vicinity of the park Yrigoyen.
The city is surrounded by areas semiurbanizadas, with activity agricultural and considerable populational density. The colonies prevail, established with the immigration from the arrival of the railroad, when beginning this century.
The tediousness of the vineyards is surprising and the same rigorous quality characterizes to its excellent wines. |
