Although the agriculture originated with the indigenous inhabitants of the region, he/she had its biggest growth and development with the arrival of the immigrants in massive form. The size average of the rural exploitation in the county is from some 150 to 200 hectares, although in the south area it diminishes at some 50-60 and in the cattle north it is increased until the 400 hectares or more. The most important cultivations are the wheat, the corn, the oat, the millet, soya, sunflower and linen. The peas and onions, as the strawberries and melons are also worthy of mention. In the north of the county, the relief facilitates the exploitation of the cane of sugar and of cotton.
The forests of the county are divided in:
- Soft wood : those that allow the forest exploitation of the insular and riverside forests of the Paraná. The most outstanding species are the Creole sallow, the one planes and the red timbó. Their wood is used in the production of drawers and furniture.
- Hard wood : the red quebracho is plentiful, the target, the virá-pitá and species of great behavior for the production of beams and posts.
In Rosario's proximities and San Fair forests of eucalyptuses exist and of pines. |
