The regions producers |
|
The Argentina has 210.000 hectares planted with grape to elaborate came, distributed in different regions producers: Mendoza (70%), San Juan (22%), I Laugh Black (3%), Salta , The Rioja, Catamarca and Córdoba. To them it aspires to be added in the future Chubut , where vineyards are already developing.
All these counties, except Córdoba, extend on 1.700 kilometers along the Mountain range of the Andes , among the 22° and 42° of latitude. Next to Río Negro it is necessary to include Neuquén, where new plantations exist.
The climate of the regions producers is semidesértico, with very few rains during the year, I eat for example Salta , with an annual average of 200 millimeters , or Mendoza , with 250 millimeters .
This aridity is caused fundamentally by the distance that separates them of the Ocean Atlantic and because the Mountain range of the Andes acts as barrier impeding the arrival of humid winds of the Pacific. As consequence of that climate, all the vineyards need to be irrigated, and for it water of thaw of the Mountain range is used traditionally that is transported until the vineyards by a system of channels and canals.
To be a very scarce and vital one for the province producers, watering rights and a strict control exist on the use of the water. In accordance with the surface of the vineyard, the property will be entitled to a certain quantity of water, distributed in preset shifts. The properties that are not entitled watering should appeal to the search of water by means of wells, variant that is regulated to maintain controlled the exploitation of the underground napas. The water, according to the regions, is to a depth that oscillates between the 130 and the 300 meters . |

A generous climate |
| |
Another general characteristic of the regions producers is the condition of mediterraneidad of its climate, for that that the thermal width, that is to say, the difference of temperature between the day and the night in the maximum and minimum values, is very important, what favors the formation of good aromas in the wines.
This generous climate, with abundant sun and scarce rains, has as consequence that the years are very even, contrary to what happens in Europe , where the prohibition of watering makes that the viñatero depends on the sun and the rain, what conditions the quality of the crops that you/they can vary a lot according to the years.
In the Argentina all the crops are good and only exceptional rains possibly can alter this quality, like it happened in 1998 to the Boy's phenomenon that caused intense precipitations in Mendoza .
Another consequence of this dry climate is exactly the absence of provoked illnesses for the rain and the humidity. In France they should be carried out up to fifteen preventive treatments during the year against the illnesses, while in Argentina hardly one or two. |

The regions, of north to south |
| |
In the Argentina we have considered nine counties like capable regions for the production of wines to commercial scale: Salta , The Rioja, Catamarca, San Juan , Córdoba, Río Negro, Neuquén and Chubut .
For the importance of the production in Mendoza 's county, this it has been divided in five areas: Norte, Este, Alto Río Mendoza and Valley of Uco to the north of the province , besides the area Center-south.
In Argentina , within the different regions that allow the culture from the grapevine, the conjunction of the climate, ground and height, added to the experience of the man, there is developed the wine production of an excellent quality.
